The scope of this project was to repurpose the indoor bocce facility at Rouge Woods CC into a multi-purpose gymnasium within the Town of Richmond Hill. The facility was a recreational community center, with two gymnasiums and an indoor bocce court together with support spaces and is approximately 28,700 square feet in area and was constructed in 2000.
The proposed renovations included removal of the indoor bocce court area and its conversion into a third gymnasium. The general contractor had to manage subcontracts for architectural, minor structural, electrical and mechanical work that could include trades for: plumbing, HVAC, washroom accessories and hardware, concrete application, doors, sports flooring, GWB and tile ceilings, miscellaneous metals, lighting, and fire protection. The project included the life cycle replacement of existing gymnasium floor, as well as the replacement of high bay lighting in the full gymnasium space with LED lighting.
