Rutherford has replaced the existing passenger platforms at the Brantford VIA Rail Station. The platform had deteriorated significantly, and crews needed to first demolish the existing concrete platform. Once demolition was completed, prefabricated concrete curbs were installed. As part of the accessibility upgrades across all VIA projects, yellow polycarbonate Tactile Walking Surface Indicators (TWSI) were installed along the platform curb. This project included the installation of asphalt, as well as barriers and fences. In order to ensure commuter traffic was not impeded, work largely occurred at night.
