Barrie Library – HVAC and Roof Revitalization

By January 13, 2020 No Comments

The main downtown Barrie library is undergoing a major retrofit in their HVAC system from top to bottom. We are removing four aging roof top units and two boilers and replacing them with new, integrated and energy efficient units. All these new units will be part of the energy management system the city wants to have linked (on-line) with their central control; i.e. one manager will have access to all major facilities the city owns and operates. At the same time, we will replace the roof on the entire building. All this work will take place with minimum impact to the library staff and general public who frequent the library. Much of the work will be done off hours. When we need to work during daytime hours, sections are cordoned off, while work carries on. Our biggest task on this project is the coordination of HVAC, controls and wiring systems, while the library keeps functioning normally.
