Town of Markham

I am writing to thank you, your team, and subcontractors for the job they have done in completing the St. Robert’s artificial turf and clubhouse project. The project was completed on time and within the budget of three million dollars. Work on this complex project involved a clubhouse, full size artificial field, and one third season dome and was completed to project specifications. This is a testament to your staff who worked hard to quickly solve any problems that came up and continually pushed to complete the project on time. When required extra work was identified and completed in a timely fashion while keeping fees to a minimum. The Town of Markham, School Board, and sports groups are very satisfied with their brand new facility. We all look forward to many years of use in this facility.

Town of Richmond Hill

The town retained the services of Rutherford Contracting in November 2009 to complete the restoration/rehabilitation of an existing heritage home and barns known as the George Forster House (built circa 1830). The project was funded as an Infrastructure Stimulus Funds Project and the construction schedule was under strict completion dates of which Rutherford Contracting had no problems meeting. The town was fully satisfied with the staff at Rutherford Contracting and the services provided in support of the project. They were professional, thorough and sensitive to the concerns of heritage details in completing the works. The Town enjoyed working with Rutherford Contracting and would recommend them for future construction works.

Town of Aurora

Rutherford Contracting performed a complete renovation to the Aurora Cultural Centre in 2009. Rutherford Contracting performed a complete renovation to both the interior and exterior spaces including but not limited to: 1) Structural Steel 2) Underpinning and Foundation 3) Heritage Brick and Field Stone Foundation 4) New Roof 5) Reconstruction of Heritage Belfry 6) New Plumbing HVAC and Mechanical Systems 7) New Lighting and Electrical Systems 8 ) Final Finishes 9) Custom Heritage Millwork and Carpentry and 10) Custom Floor Refinishing.  The total budget for this project  was $3.2 million and the project was completed ahead of schedule and within the assigned budget. The project management team and site superintendant were excellent to work with providing excellent communication flow between the Town and its assigned consultants.  Any changes to contract were both fair and performed without delay to the project. I would strongly recommend Rutherford Contracting Limited for any current and future work to heritage facilities or facilities that are historically sensitive.

Town of Oakville

Rutherford was our general contractor for the Queen Elizabeth Park sports fields; this involved numerous subcontractors and a project value of approximately $1 million. This project included two sand-based soccer fields, irrigation, lighting, asphalt and concrete works, planting and related park amenities.  As the general contractor, Rutherford successfully demonstrated their skills and professionalism with all aspects of the contract including but not limited to: coordination of subcontractors, adherence to the project schedule, quality of construction, requests for extras, pricing and invoicing, addressing deficiencies in a timely manner, and project documentation. I would have no hesitation in recommending Rutherford for any park-related projects.

Michalski Nielsen Associates Limited

With the opening of the new Tributary 4 valley and channel system on the Markham Downtown project, I wanted to extend my thanks to you and your staff for the excellent work and co-operation we have received from your company. As the environmental consultant on this project, our mandate has been to create a new stream and valley that provides much better aesthetic, fish habitat, and wildlife habitat and corridor functions than the present system. At the same time, there has been a need to implement these works with extreme care, to protect the integrity of the downgradient Rouge River valley.  The experience and professionalism of the staff of Rutherford Contracting Ltd. has greatly assisted in achieving these objectives. Thank you, and I look forward to being able to work with you on future landscape restoration projects within similarly environmentally sensitive settings.

City of Mississauga

Our experience with Rutherford Contracting Ltd. reaches beyond creating park and open space landscapes through their building division where the company has also been able to provide complete building services in various large scale projects. Their ability to provide General Contracting services with in-house resources capable of handling the majority of required trades is a valuable asset of the firm and a large part of the success of many of their projects for the City of Mississauga Community Services Department. Examples of some of these multi-disciplined projects include: 1) Lakeside Park Redevelopment, valued at $4.5 million dollars, a prestigious waterfront park involving extensive parkland development with an environmentally sustainable green technology approach, as well as washroom/parks depot building. 2) Courtneypark Athletic Fields, valued at $2.3 million dollars, a major multi-facility sports park and a washroom/parks depot building. Rutherford Contracting Ltd.’s attention to details and commitment to delivering projects on time are testament to their reputation and are highly valued by the Community Services Department of the City of Mississauga.
